Outcome 2

Loretta Lux
Loretta Lux Self Portrait

Loretta Lux was born 1969, she is by far one of the few artists who has been able to change my views on digital photography. She is proof that the digital age has brought great things in the world of art.
Most of her work is of young children, she says she enjoys photographing children as they are the most honest subjects.
Having a background originally in painting, this inspired her to use computer manipulation. She takes the photo and then change, blur and even distort her subjects.
She has complete control over her work as she changes the background and chooses the poses and facial expressions of the children she is photographing.

A lot of her photos have no real meaning behind them, so it's hard to interpret her work. But the soft colours and expressions on the children's face seem to indicate a sense of innocence.

There is something rather disturbing about her photos; the way the children look, their eyes and vacant expressions. Although she does use photo manipulation to create the odd atmosphere, I do really love her work.

Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz was born on October 2nd 1949. In 1970 she began a career as a staff photographer working in the newly launched magazine Rolling Stone

She sought intimate moments with her subjects, who "open their hearts and souls and lives to you".

On December 8th 1980, She was sent to do a photo shoot with John Lennon for Rolling Stone. It was in this shoot that she captured John Lennon with Yoko Ono in a photograph that revealed their relationship to the world. In the photograph we see Lennon exposed, nude, and vulnerable, holding on tightly to the strong and serious Yoko Ono. This photograph was taken spontaneously and was the last photograph ever taken of John Lennon~

One of my favourite photos (mostly because Scarlett Johansson is by
far one of my favourite actors and also because of the dark atmospheric
feel of the photo.
I love the realness of her photos, the way she captures her subjects emotions. I really admire her, she's been in the business for so many years that it's easy to interpret her work and see her as a role model for photography!
